that was painfully scripted and the gravity boys looked about as happy as a fish out of water

flag scott-townes (Sep 18, 2011 at 20:18) (Below Threshold) show comment
It's an advertisement so of course it's scripted, you idiot. If you think that the "gravity boys", whatever the shit that means, were not happy riding their bikes then you part of a lower intelligence that doesn't deserve to be recognized as a stable person of humanity.... honestly that was one of the dumbest comments that I've ever read.
  • + 18
flag poozank (Sep 18, 2011 at 20:25)
gravity boy means someone who specializes in gravity riding numb-nuts, also he was commenting on how their opinions on the bikes seemed forced and repetitive which seemed to be the case, and as for your imbecilic, infantile rant I can say you are one bitter a*shole

Hahaha, really dude? Like I said it's a commercial but as any REAL MTBer would know is that you can never have a bad time riding a bike no matter how much travel it has hence why your comment is retarded. I don't see how seeing a positive comment can be bitter but to each their own... and nice job using the "up" and "down" arrows to try to reinforce your incredible stupid point!

Regardless of this, this video shows how progressive "normal" internet edits have come in the past ten years and I'm very stoked on that regardless of what mindless kids on the internet think of it.

flag summit800 (Sep 20, 2011 at 10:34)
i agree with baboony. but of course you gota sell the crap to feed the kids. at the same time though I just hate hearing the continuous raves from sponsored riders about some product their testing. Although i have faith in the average mtb'er that they would take normal rider feedback as to what to base a bikes quality from since in such a case it becomes much less bias. My rule of thumb is don't buy anything first generation, always wait for the continuity of the product to see if improvements are made. I'm sure in this case the bike is great though cause specialized has great r & d.

If I had to pick 1 bike fir every kind of riding it wouldn't be a stumpjumper... I rode a 2012 29er and it is not to ridgid. Every corner I took I almost had to lean over the top tube and just never settled in. However, I did ride the 2012 carbon enduro.... That is one sweet ride. Talk about one fun bike. I took some trails as fast as I did on my dh bike and it loved it. Specialized is on top of there game and everyone else's for that matter too.

Thin air at 1500 ??? come on, we live at 2200 and go ride at 2800 to 3000 in México city.

Beautiful bikes, its a shame the price is so high.

I do the math and also ride it, I know they are amazing riders and love the video and the place where they are riding but its not such a deadly climb in terms of altitude.

They are trying to sell it a little too hard. I personally think the suspension design is not as good as DW, mistro ect, it bobs more when you climb, but does feel sick on the DH.

  • + 3
flag tomcoady (Sep 18, 2011 at 12:38)
It's a part of the frame, not sure if it's possible to retrofit to other bikes though..
  • + 4
flag bigdan30 (Sep 18, 2011 at 13:00)
seems like it would be doable to manufacture your own jimmy rig with an old tensioner wheel, they have good idea...i also rode some new norcos with the a.r.t. system (chain grows slightly at beginning of travel) and not having chainslap is such a cool feature on the trail for some reason. the silence is weird, but awesome.

flag mtbman12345 (Sep 18, 2011 at 13:22)
that chain "dangler: as they call it isnt part of the frame, If you look at it again, you just slide it on and tighten with an alan key, you should be able to buy it

Many companies make them or have in the past. I was actually a bit shocked to see something so old school on "new tech" high end rigs!
But 6 million companies also make XC specific guides now, and even a BB mount roller is more than enough.

flag Steezysix (Sep 18, 2011 at 14:59)
google "zip tie chain guide" and make yourself one for pennies!
  • + 7
flag The-Medic (Sep 18, 2011 at 19:57)
That's an OLD piece of tech right there... Some of us are old enough to remember when THAT was what constituted a "chain-goide" oh and you also had to have an "anti chain-suck device" too so you didn't haggar up your BB area when your chain came off... I always forget how young the average PB user is untill I read the comments.

But you've got to realize, according to the video, that they took way more LAPS than the homies biking up... I don't know what world you live in but multiple lift ride laps are just as exhausting as one ride up and one ride down. Whatever the truth is I think you'd be stupid to claim that one is more intense than the other... and I've done equivilant to both... and then some.

Zermatt is awesome. I liked this video but they didn't hit the super nugget trails. Seeing Berreclaw bail on that beat trail...I think that they needed a guide! But, i'm a little bias...want to ride Zermatt in 2012 with professional guides? Check out our tour company www.ridebig.com. We've been scoping Zermatt for nearly 10 years now...
