LAS VEGAS - Race Face Components, Pinkbike.com and Rocky Mountain Bicycles proudly present the world premiere of rising star filmmaker Aaron Larocque’s What’s Next? at the first ever live broadcast film premiere and VIP party: Breaker Breaker 09.
Thanks to everyone who tuned in.
Thanks to everyone who tuned in.
Even as this is being written, Radek from Pinkbike is driving from LA to Las Vegas with precious cargo - a fully HD capable broadcast booth, a massive outdoor film screen, a sound system only a rock star could dream of, and a vast array of audio video gadgets and gizmos. When Larocque’s first full length feature hits the screen, the blast radius will be massive!
The VIP party will also feature LaRock’s Top Ten - a selection of Aaron’s favorite top 10 Pinkbike video web edits from 2009. The ten edits will be announced Thursday morning on Pinkbike. Pinkbike members will be able to log on during the 8pm broadcast and vote for their favorite – winners will be announced live after the debut of What’s Next?.
All ten video makers will receive a set of custom engraved pedals from Straitline. The top 3 will also receive a set of custom lasered Atlas FR cranks in any colour and size they choose. In addition to their cranks and pedals, the winner will receive a Banshee Amp frameset. 5 lucky Pinkbike voters will win a variety of schwag including a Rocky Mountain Flow DJ frameset, Atlas FR bars, Straitline pedals and Race Face armour.
An ode to hungry MTB trailblazers everywhere, What’s Next? brings a fresh and unabashed riding perspective to the LCD bigscreen. Take a group of up until now, mostly unknown riders, a burgeoning film talent like Aaron Larocque, and some of the world’s best riding spots, and you will get a glimpse of the future.
What’s Next? stars Alan Hepburn, Andrew Sherry, Brendan Howey, Casey Groves, Dustin Greenall, Dylan Dunkerton, Dylan Sherrard, Eric Lawrenuk, Frankie Vass, Jarrett Moore, Logan Peat, Luke Fulton, Mark Matthews, Matt Brooks, Strahan Loken, Taylor Leigh and Wink Grant. The film will be available for free on the web after the premiere. The entire VIP party will be re-broadcast on Pinkbike following the event.
Race Face’s Julian Coffey: “Race Face has always been about the raw innovation - the kind that only comes from the inaugural efforts of core progressive riders. These are the riders that would rather burn it down and start again if it means taking their riding to the next level. These are the guys you’ll see in What’s Next?”
The Breaker Breaker 09 VIP party will be hosted by none other than the godfathers of free ride themselves, Brett Tippie and Wade Simmons. Expect to see live, up close and personal interviews with key bike industry folk in a swanky poolside Vegas setting.
Visit www.raceface.com/vegas for more details. Make sure you tune in to Pinkbike.com Thursday morning for Larock’s Top 10 picks and then at 8pm PST for the live broadcast. Breaker breaker, this is not a test, this is a live broadcast from Vegas!

he always finds the sickest songs and makes the most crisp videos
+Props to you
Yes I agree that Aaron makes awesome videos and stoked to see this one but Life Cycles did already use this song when they made their Shimano ads over a year ago

looks like an absolutedly WUNDERBAR film, and so much stuff to be won!!! i have an overall awesome feeling about this whole thing going down... spectacular props to larock, you make the BEST vids
[Reply]
Thank you 8 pound 6 ounce baby jesus for allowing pinkbike to bring us this bitchin film, shake and bake......
I'd give this film about 7/10, maybe a tiny bit less. The editing is awesome, and so is some of the riding (Frankie Vass....
), but the really highly saturated filming gets a little tiring after a while. There are one or two just stunning shots, but the music choice is a little off.... NWD and Seasons have brought some legendary riding tunes in the past, and not one of these struck me as achieving legendary status. Also no talking at all in the whole film is a bit played-out now, I want to hear the riders' views on stuff. Overall a solid first effort, but not quite up there with the NWD/Collective films yet.
And it's quite funny that this is a world premiere as I have already attended a viewing

Get a life harriieee. If you are comparing Aarons film to those films then think of this. he had no budget, a broken camera, and an up and coming rider list and not dudes that make the huge bucks to throw down.
larock is a legend he has the best videos and this is his first full lenght movie cant wait till maby 3 years he'll be way better and the videos he'll have will show up the collective and nwd series this guy is a legend keep up all the great hard work
Aaron the suspense is killing me!!
cant wait looks so damn good! your movie making skills are nothing short than amazing.. good luck with it mate

already seen it! its pretty sick! always good to see the local spots captured so eliquently ...... enjoy my spelling

The filmmaking in this film is absolutely stunning. However it gets pretty boring; it is predominantly dirt jumping and the limits of how many slow-mo-360's-at-sunset can be squeezed into a film are pushed to the max! the downhill riding is average, plenty of bar tweaks and pedalling. As i said Aaron will clearly be making some epic films when he gets some better riders but this one was just a bit samey for me, sorry!
[Reply]
I hope it is not just a dirt jump fest like NWD 9, which felt a little stale, though it had some amazing descents and other great footage it just was a bit repetitive. Collective's films are more up my alley. I must say this preview looks fantastic though!! Hoping for an awesome flick! Will be locked in at 1pm. Looking forward to see Aussie Alan Hepburn's part.
Correct. We will also have a first look for LifeCycles new movie and a new teaser from Anthill Films. Gonna be sick!

Talking from experience..... This is much better than standing out on the sidewalk, wondering what is going on inside. The live cam is cool. What up LARS.. SAM... KYLE...!!!!!!!
Ive been stuck outside too many Crankworx premier parties. I want to see some parting!!!! Whoot up LARS!!!
ok guys the actual movie will show at 10 pm pacific time. there is supposed to be interviews with larock and riders from his movie, ryan gibb's movie trailer for his film lifecycles and the trailer for stund. I am guessing they are having some technical difficulties (aka tippie)
Aaron is realizing people are like WTF !!! and hopefully he made the decision to move the time up since it is in fact HIS MOVIE. Are people having bandwidth issues out there ? Would be interesting to know how many people are actually streaming this.
Tippie is a gongshow, love it!!! I'd love to hear some stories about the guys when they were the "Froriders" back when all this was just starting! Lets hear some dirt on Ritchie and Wade already!

Whats Next was always going to show at 10 pm, boys! Soon enough we'll get some teaser footy from LifeCycles and Follow Me, can't wait!

mine is smooth as silk...must be your system or internet connection if it is glitchy. try shutting down everything you can.
well done Raceface, Rocky and Pinkbike for trying something new, thanks for Tippie and Wade for working it and letting us hear some stories - and as for the movie, I saw it at Crankworx - you people are in for a treat!
Ditto .... the broadcast improved as everyone relaxed. I have seen the video about 15 times now....LOVED IT!!
The intro for luke Fulton's section was badass!
About the music, because it's not the usual fare obviously. If I was just listening to the tunes w/o the video I doubt I'd be a fan, but it really works when put to his filming. So stoked to not have a movie full of screamo!

Wow, he made me actually want to watch dirt jumping, that is a feat in itself!
Great filming and great movie!

Movie was a let down, way to much figure skating and not enough ride sequences to keep it interesting. After the first couple of flippy whips they look all the same.
Movie had its us and downs, but for one guy, holy crap ive him a team and he can get anything done. Some really unique shots there to. Sweet job on the movie man.

Damn it, who showed their ass? I was having a great time watching drunk riders chill and talk about riding, and trying not to swear... but then an ass made them shut it off. Not even a goodnight folks
Aww well i gotta get to sleep any ways. Thanks PB and Raceface.
Yeah that webcast ruled! Who ever mooned the camera messed it up i think. It went off line just a few seconds after that.

There will be a download available at some point, fairly soon I think.

Aaron you must be soooo stoked right now... Because this looks like it gonna be 1 siick movie! I'm gonna buy 1 when its on sale. Where abouts can i get a copy?
Great movie but the music was unbearable at times, imo. Next time have some stuff that doesn't sound like it would be played in a gay club.
Thanks Raceface, Thanks Pinkbike, Awesome party, and awesome video Aaron. What's Next Premiere at Crankworx and What's Next in Vegas, my two favorite parties this year.It was great to be part of it. Thanks
They were playing this in Whistler's Longhorn bar the other week, it is an awesome video, really well shot and edited, definitely on the to get list.
