In order to slow it down to 1000 frames per second, they needed to keep the background as basic as possible, otherwise you'd get a lot of pixel distortion. It doesn't make for the greatest video having such a blank background as the sky, but it allows for the slow motion to look good and for the viewers to see what goes on throughout the moves. More about the concept than having a banger edit.
Edit - the other way, which i guess red bull could do (since they have lots of money), would be to use a proper high speed camera ($$) that could actually capture that amount of frames per second rather than using a computer program to simulate it, then background doesn't matter and you could have a sweet concept with a banger edit. +1
Idk about you guys, but I watch slow-mo to see how tricks are done, so not seeing them hit the lip, or initiating the trick is really annoying and makes this about worthless. Still cool to watch though.
Yeah, watching slowmotion is much more awesome if you can acctually see when they land, maby som scetchy landings and stuff, thats what fun to watch in slowmo
ya there is no way this was twixtor, its obviously shot with a high speed camera, one cool thing about it being on a blank sky is so you could have riders coming in and out of the shots easily and have multiple riders in the shot at the same time just cuz its kinda cool, so that must be what they were doing
I like slow-mo, but this vid just didn't work for me. What fascinates me in slowed-down clips is that you can see how tricks progress from the beginning to the final moment of landing, creating one complete motion. That kind of clips really show how much talent these guys have and how precise their riding is. On top of all it's amazing to see how much there is going on in your body and bike when you hit the ground. That RedBull clip on the other hand just got me bored
Feels like some dreams I've had of riding where everything is slowed down and i'm suddenly capable of things i'd never even try in reality.
Mayhaps it's not the most exciting edit ever made, but I think it was still interesting. If anything it might be kind of helpful for serious dirt jumpers to watch the technique of the best in the business. example: I liked how in one of the first shots you can see Semenuk's eyes scanning ahead for the landing and his head leading his body.
im sorry this pains me to say but that was quite un satisfying. they had a couple shots that they just repeated, dont get me wrong the tricks are crazy but the slow mo is a bit much. i would have liked to see a bit of variation to the video. just an opinion
The slow mo they did of Gee hitting that epic gap to wallride in the Rampage was way better... Could see the rim flex to the point of self destruction in that vid!
Come on Redbull! You own a football club, racing team, biking syndicate and of course a mass productive energy drink brand, but they can't make a decent film. Dissapointed!
